AFCON 2025: Morocco Crowned Champions After Penalty Shootout With Nigeria

AFCON 2025 Final

Morocco are Africa's continental champions for the third time after Bono saved two penalties in a nerve-shredding shootout that ended Morocco's AFCON drought that had stretched since 1976.

The final was played before a capacity 93,000 crowd at the Grand Stade de Casablanca, with both teams unable to be separated after 120 minutes of pulsating football.

Achraf Hakimi was named Player of the Tournament, contributing six assists across seven matches, while Moroccan manager Walid Regragui extended his contract through to the 2026 World Cup.
