Uganda's Faith Kipyegon Breaks Her Own 1500m World Record in Lausanne

Kipyegon World Record

Faith Kipyegon ran 3:48.12 at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting, erasing the previous world record of 3:49.11 she set in Florence in 2023 and becoming the first woman to break the 3:49 barrier.

The 29-year-old Kenyan appeared untroubled through the first three laps before an explosive final 300 metres that left her international rivals more than seven seconds behind at the finish.

The International Athletics Federation confirmed the record was achieved under legal conditions, with no wind assistance and full doping control compliance.
