JSE Lists First African Renewable Energy REIT With R12bn Portfolio

Greenvest Africa, South Africa's first listed renewable energy real estate investment trust, began trading on the JSE Main Board on Monday with an opening market capitalisation of R12.4 billion.

The REIT's portfolio comprises 14 operational solar farms and three wind energy facilities across the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, and Limpopo, with a combined installed capacity of 1,240MW.

The listing marks a structural shift in how renewable energy assets are financed in South Africa, offering retail investors direct exposure to income-generating clean energy infrastructure.
